Tierra Antigua Elementary School
Tierra Antigua is located out on the west mesa west of Rainbow Road. The scope of work included the planting and irrigation design for the site, as well as the design of the playgrounds. One of the goals for the school was to integrate nature, learning, fitness and play into the landscape. The playground design incorporated the five basic types of play activities (such as climbing, balancing or spinning) with four basic learning objectives (such as imagination and interaction). The school will include pre-school and kindergarten students and care was taken to consider the developmental differences and skill levels for all age groups. The playground includes features such as rock climbers, a fitness course and percussion instruments in a "music garden".
