Cabezon Linear Park, Rio Rancho

Sites Southwest was commissioned by Curb Inc. North to design and assist in the construction of the Cabezon Linear Park, a park which is to be the central recreational focus of the Cabezon Community. The park is planned to include trails and road crossings, respite areas in the form of gardens along the trail devoted to specific uses (i.e. reading, play, solitude, etc.) and parks. We developed plans for the trail and grading associated with the trail, landscape and irrigation plans, plans for site architecture in the form of signage, bridge abutments, walls and other structures. Special attention was given to make certain the trail met ADA design requirements and provided convenient linkages to neighborhoods and regional trails. Plantings will use a xeric/oasis concept with water use and plants concentrated where residents need them. Plan development has included work with the city of Rio Rancho Parks and Recreation Department in order to meet city needs for the parks and SCAFCA to ensure that safety and storm drainage concerns were met.
