Franklin Miles Park, Santa Fe

Sites Southwest's Plan for Franklin Miles Park will completely overhaul this aging park. With the increasing demand for water, water conservation is at the core of the plan. Existing sports fields will be retrofitted with new, efficient sprinklers and many currently unused grassy areas will be converted to Xeriscape. There will also be a Xeriscape demonstration garden to demonstrate that xeric plants can be strikingly beautiful without using a lot of water. The plan is expected to cut water use of the park by at least 25%. The plan will also include new irrigation to sports fields, expanded recreational uses including a renovated and expanded playground area, a new perimeter walking trail around the site, a new picnic pavilion and picnicking area, and produce conceptual plans for an outdoor remote control car track.
