Sites Southwest, the Parsons Transportation Group, Twin Mountain and Westwind Landscapes worked together on the I40-Coors Interchange Reconstruction. Building an aesthetically pleasing interchange was one of the New Mexico Department of Transportation's goals for I-40/Coors. One of the primary objectives was to incorporate the Westside landscape into the interchange design and pedestrian walkways. The overall theme for the interchange is "Escarpment", using the natural landscape of the Albuquerque west mesa as inspiration. The volcanoes, juniper savannah, escarpment, grassland, bluff and river provide context to direct landscape design. Artwork and structural aesthetics reinforce the theme, creating a rich and layered design.
