East Downtown Albuquerque (EDO) Master Plan

The EDO Project incorporated New Urbanist thinking into revitalization of Central Avenue and Broadway Boulevard just east of downtown Albuquerque. One of the first redevelopment projects was the rehabilitation of the Old Albuquerque High School structures and campus. Sites Southwest participated into the overall design plan for EDO, collaborated with other team members on site design and designed the landscapes for the initial development phases. The High School Project took a classic old building and plaza and rehabilitated it into residential lofts with a new central plaza replete with landscaping, sitting spaces and outdoor "rooms" for entertaining. The EDO Master Plan, an extension of the High School Project, developed design standards for revitalization of the area surrounding the high school. Sites Southwest role included conceptual design and cost estimating for the streetscapes, parks roundabouts and, public plazas. Each was designed with sustainability in mind and customized to the needs of surrounding buildings and residents.
