Sites Southwest was charged with updating a 20-year old Sector Development Plan, expanding the plan area and incorporating concepts from a recently adopted Metropolitan Redevelopment Area plan for the Nob Hill and Highland neighborhoods in Albuquerque. The community includes older residential areas and a commercial center along Central Avenue that transitions from one of the City's most vibrant commercial districts to a deteriorating commercial strip. Neighborhood concerns included protecting established residential neighborhoods while supporting commercial development, providing for transitions between intensive commercial activity and single family homes, accommodating mixed uses along commercial streets, and supporting the area's heavy pedestrian, bicycle and transit traffic. The plan incorporates capital improvements and zoning, along with recommended City policy for the future development of this part of Albuquerque.
