Enhanced walkability, ADA accessibility and improved traffic movement are all part of a cohesive design Sites Southwest put together to assist engineers with this El Paso Industrial Park project. The historic Butterfield Trail provides inspiration for the colors and theme used in the design.
The overall plan provided for street trees and an ADA accessible walking/hiking/biking trail with pedestrian crossovers. A seamless transition between the old and new landscape and an irrigation system which ties into the existing system were implemented. On-site existing materials were recycled and used on an attractive, yet relatively inexpensive walking/biking path. Traffic calming devices such as roundabouts, narrowed streets and mid-block crossings are also evident throughout. Accommodations were also made to allow space for the new trails and future small linear parks.
