Explora is a premier attraction within Albuquerque’s Old Town museum district. The Sites Southwest team surrounded this fun place to learn with landscape that was not only fitting but provides a teaching moment or two itself.
The landscape complements the innovative architecture of the facility while providing a sustainable environment appropriate to the Rio Grande Valley. Native and adaptive plant materials and water harvesting strategies predominate Sites’ design. The landscape plan also incorporates an educational component. Through the collaborative efforts of city staff, museum personnel, architects and Sites, visitors can now stroll the grounds and learn about history, traditional farming techniques and special or endangered ecosystems.
