Visitors traveling to and from Mexico over the Stanton Bridge in El Paso, Texas have a new place to rest and gather.
Sites Southwest worked with WhPacific providing urban design and landscape architectural services for the Stanton Bridge improvement project. Sites’ role was the design of a pedestrian plaza.
The plaza is influenced by vernacular style featuring mosaic tile, murals, terra cotta style planters and a local plant palette. Canopy trees, vine armatures and shade structures make areas of the plaza comfortable in all seasons. Construction of a 3d digital model placed shade elements so they don’t interfere with crucial surveillance, a component necessary to respond to national security concerns.
