Albuquerque Community Planning Areas

To complete an assessment of the Central Albuquerque Planning Area, Sites worked with the City to engage thousands of community members, documented area priorities, and helped articulate community needs and priorities related to growth, economic development, community character, and sense of place. To do this, Sites assisted City staff in creating a focused strategy for the planning process, establishing a joint scope of work, developing communication materials, and drafting a community engagement plan. Sites facilitated in-person and virtual kick-off meetings and presented at a variety of neighborhood meetings and community events. To achieve more direct community engagement, the team also visited popular gathering places and worked with neighborhoods that are typically less involved in City planning efforts. To capture the perspectives of key stakeholders, Sites interviewed business owners, area developers, economic development organizations, and social service providers. This provided a complementary lens to understand the area’s economic and institutional needs.
