Mesilla Comprehensive Plan

The Town of Mesilla is a historic village and popular tourist destination in a growing area adjacent to the City of Las Cruces. It also retains unique architectural and cultural features that make it a beloved space for residents and visitors alike. Residents are facing the challenge of maintaining their rural cultural identity in the face of regional change. The plan’s guiding principles were to preserve local history and culture, retain the agriculture and greenbelt while adapting strategic areas to better meet the needs of a growing community, support a healthy community, promote rural character, and cultivate a diverse economy that is tied not only to its history, but also its outdoor recreation potential. The plan is built on ideas, creativity, and investments from community members, leadership, staff, and regional partners.
