East Mesa Sports & Recreation Complex

Date

2025

Client

City of Las Cruces

The East Mesa Sports & Recreation Complex in Las Cruces, New Mexico, is a $8.5 million complex planned and designed near the city's East Lohman Corridor, east of I25. Sites collaborated with Wilson & Co Engineers and Architects to create the master plan for the park and later construction documents. This ambitious project went through a lengthy master planning process that was guided by a comprehensive Public Information Plan. Among the organizations were trail and open space enthusiasts, sports leagues, desert habitat advocates, nearby residents concerned about losing views of the Organ Mountains, trail and biking supporters, and BLM. The complex includes two access roads designed to cause as little disruption to the desert ecosystem and nearby neighborhoods as possible, soccer/football fields, baseball fields, pickle ball courts, trails, a traditional park and playgrounds, an amphitheater built into a natural hillside, concessions and restrooms, and a greenway promenade connecting all the facilities.
