Vistoso Trails Master Plan

Sites’s work on The Vistoso Trails Master Plan for The Town of Oro Valley, Arizona demonstrates our ability to deliver a tailored Master Plan that meets the needs of the community, while not jeopardizing our core sustainability mission. In this project, we were able to optimize the number of public meetings, engaging the town residents in similar locations to the one being designed. Through those meetings, we were able to integrate feedback, resulting in a plan that included nature play areas and an amphitheater for classes or star gazing for children. We thoughtfully considered a nearby school, including a crosswalk for children’s safety, and partnered with the school to allow for parking so that families could use the Vistoso Trails’ amenities conveniently. Our ability to understand and consider community needs is also demonstrated by the similarities in neighborhoods and surrounding areas. This project wove through a high-end residential community of existing and continuing development, which is very similar to the High Desert Community Plan. At the foundation of all of this, we partnered with The Conservation Fund, the AZ chapter of Audubon, and local Archaeologist consultants to integrate conservation and preservation at the core of the project. This allowed us to collaborate with experts in designing open spaces while optimizing conservation, attracting birds and protecting wildlife, and preserving and protecting on-site petroglyphs.
