Sites, along with our project engineers, designed the study for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers that transformed the face of the Rio Grande river in central New Mexico. This study was the first phase of a comprehensive program to restore and revitalize the river. Since then, tens of millions of dollars have been spent renovating the river with our blueprint as the guide. The goal of the plan was to restore the Bosque (forest) along the river to an ecologically sustainable and natural environment that provided exceptional visual, recreational, and interpretive opportunities for the citizens of the state and region. The scope of services for the project involved significant analysis, design, and public processing. This project was awarded the National Planning and Analysis Honor award from the American Society of Landscape Architects.
