Willy Simon
Willy is an experienced planner and spatial data analyst with 8 years dedicated to enhancing community well-being through clear, impactful data communication. Throughout Willy’s experience in transportation planning at the Mid-Region Council of Governments (MRCOG), his passion consistently centered on creating compelling data visuals that translate complex spatial information into actionable strategies for decision makers. During Willy’s tenure as staff lead for MRCOG's Congestion Management Process and Safety Program, he leveraged detailed crash and traffic data to refine the MPO's Project Selection Process, ensuring funding went toward the most effective safety and congestion mitigation improvements. He is particularly passionate about addressing the urgent issue of pedestrian safety and deaths in the Albuquerque region. Outside of work Willy likes to skateboard, play soccer, and travel. His favorite beverages (not in order) are fresh coconut, Teh Tarik, and Masala Chai.
Willy holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable Development from Technical University Dublin and a Bachelor of Arts in Geography from the University of British Columbia.
